Kerk Nieuw Scheemda
In 1659, part of the land reclaimed from the Dollard (until then referred to as Scheemderhamrik) was separated from Scheemda. The reformed congregation of Nieuw-Scheemda then started building a nieuwe kerk.

According to the memorial stone in the façade, the foundation stone for this was laid in 1660. It became a straight closed hall church with a traditional appearance. The interior is simple but harmonious. Partly because all the furnishings date from the period in which the church was built. Next to the pulpit hangs an iron arm box and a whip to chase dogs out of the church. On either side of the choir are the dignitaries' pews. During the restoration in 2008, the wood imitation on these pews was brought back, as was the blue-green colour of the ceiling.
