Schutsluis Vijfde Verlaat
Ten years after the Fourth Paten was constructed, the city of Groningen commissioned another lock: the Fifth Paten.

In 1851, this lock – also known as Stenenverlaat – was constructed as a single-chamber lock. In 1917, it was extended on the Sluiskade side with a second lock chamber and a drawbridge, transforming it into a double-chamber lock. Opposite the lock stands a sluiswachterswoning , built around 1864 in a traditional, artisanal style. This building now serves as a private residence. The wooden storage shed and the pumping station were built after the Second World War.
