Location
The Kunsthof Appingedam was founded in 1951 to maintain an exhibition space. The aim of this gallery is to showcase contemporary art to a wide audience. Since 1952, more than 250 exhibitions of various forms of visual art have been held there. In 1955, to mark the first anniversary exhibition, works by Jan Sluyters, Piet Mondriaan, Kees van Dongen and Charley Toorop were displayed. In addition, artists including Jan van der Zee, Dick Bruna, Johan Dijkstra, Jan van Loon, Rein Pol and Jan van der Kooij have exhibited their work here.
