Kerk Leegkerk
The church stands on the highest part on the Leegeweg (low road). It was built as early as the first half of the 13th century, but over the centuries it has undergone considerable reconstruction.

In the oldest part, the Romanesque-Gothic style is clearly recognisable, thanks to the beaded mouldings around the windows, the blind arcades and the entrance. The Late Gothic section dates from the 16th century and can be recognised by the large pointed-arch windows and buttresses. On the south wall of the church hangs a panel depicting the Ten Commandments, dating from 1653. This is a rarity in Groningen’s churches. Although the current colours are not original, having been applied at a later date, the panel used to hang in the chancel, where it probably served during the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.
