Probably the most important fact about this pastorie is that it is the birthplace of Freek de Jonge (1944). He was the son of pastor de Jonge, who was pastor in Westerieland until 1946. So the famous comedian did not live here for very long. His successor as pastor was Alje Klamer, who became known with the IKON. He was the last pastor to live in the pastorie. The (former) pastorie in Westernieland was built in 1882 in an eclectic style. The façade reads 'weem', but this name has historically never been used for this pastorie. The current pastorie stands on the spot where the barn first stood of the former presbytery farm. The front house of this farmhouse faced the church. In 1882, the farm barn was demolished and replaced by a new front house, so that there were two front houses facing each other. In 1930, the old front house was demolished. Because the pastorie is painted the same colour as the church, they still form a beautiful unity.
