Schildmeer
Schildmeer is located between Schildwolde and Overschild.

Along most of the shores is nature reserve, but at Steendam there is a marina and various recreational facilities. There are cycle paths around the lake that form part of the Schildmeer roundabout. A wooden cycle bridge was built for this purpose in 2009. This crosses the Duurswold drainage canal, which flows through the lake, at the Sans Souci pumping station.
