Every resident of Groningen knows Bommen Berend. Far fewer know Rabenhaupt. And that’s a shame, because Carl von Rabenhaupt was really the hero of this story. He was the one who liberated us from that malicious occupier in 1672. It was he who, as army commander and later mayor of the city, made it possible for Groningen to develop into the absolute gem of the North that it is today. Not just a peaceful city to live in, but also an extremely pleasant meeting place for thousands. For locals, people from the surrounding countryside, students and tourists. A meeting place where everyone is made to feel truly welcome. Where you can enjoy yourself at any time of day, whatever takes your fancy at that moment. After all, there’s so much on offer.

Rabenhaupt is (or isn’t) a lunchroom, pub, bistro, bar, eatery, restaurant… actually, we’re simply whatever suits you best. We don’t really go in for rigid rules. So first, have a chat about who you’re heading out with today, pop in for a cosy visit, and then we’ll work out together how we can fulfil your wishes under our roof. ‘Let’s go!’
