Sterrenzijl
Noordpolderzijl is one of the darkest spots along the Wadden Sea coast. It is so dark here that you can see everything. During the day, you can learn more about the starry sky. In the evening, Sterrenzijl becomes truly special: lie back in a hammock and enjoy the darkness.

Walk from the dyke through the Nachttuin to Sterrenzijl. During the day, you’ll discover wild flowers and plants there. As evening falls, the night-blooming plants come to life. The flowers release their scent, attracting moths and other insects. Along the route, information posts tell you more about the plants and animals that live here.
The route ends at Sterrenzijl. This artwork by Marc van Vliet stands in the middle of the vast landscape of Noordpolderzijl, one of the darkest places in the Netherlands. Wooden posts form various constellations, with the North Star at the centre. Hammocks are suspended between the posts. Lie down, look up and watch as the sky slowly changes.

You’ll find the Sterrenzijl between the cottages at Basecamp Noordpolderzijl, Café 't Zielhoes and the dyke. Follow the Zijlweg until you reach the flag before the bend, and from there walk along the grassy path towards De Noorderdijk.
