Hippolytuskerk
This 15th-century brick cruciform church is one of the finest examples of late-Gothic church architecture in Groningen. Tuff stone has been incorporated into the walls in places, probably originating from the old Romanesque church.

The magnificent interior offers many points of interest. These include 16th-century wall and vault paintings, an epitaph in honour of Egbert Onsta, and a sacrament niche made of yellow Bentheimer sandstone. The northern entrance door, dating from around 1500, is one of the few surviving medieval doors in Groningen. The tower, built in 1487, was fitted with a dome in the 17th century, into which a carillon was later installed. Inside the tower itself hangs a bell dating from 1520. The carillon and bell were looted by the Germans during the Second World War, but were returned to the tower in 1946.
