VANhetWAD’s WadExpeditions have been developed based on the idea that everyone should be able to enjoy the Wadden Sea region – but in a way that does not place an unnecessary burden on the area. For example, we tend to moor at the ferry jetty rather than drop participants off close to resting areas for birds, for instance. We also prefer to avoid sailing along sandbanks at low tide where seals are resting. We believe that seals will seek us out if they want to see us. And you can be sure there’s always a curious seal that will do so from a suitable distance.

We take small groups of participants on tours and teach them to look at the Wadden Sea region with a keen eye. That way, you see and hear so much more: birds, seals, porpoises and the history of the Wadden Sea. By working with small groups, we have time for our participants. Time to provide tailored explanations about the mudflats. This allows us to easily switch from easy-to-understand explanations for our youngest participants to more complex information about the Wadden Sea for adult participants.
