Molen de Wetsinger

This unique corn and husking mill was fitted in 1944 with a highly modern, bottom-driven husking system, which was finally commissioned and fully operational in 1952. It is the most modern wind-powered husking mill in the Netherlands. The facility represents, as it were, the transition from wind-powered husking to modern industrial processing. The front part of the farmhouse next to the mill is the site of the former ‘sarrieshut’. Until 1855, this was the home of the official (sarrie) who collected the toll at the pumping station.

The mill's name is unknown from the past. During its management by the Offeringa Family, the nameplate of the demolished mill Eureka from Warffum was placed above the entrance to the mill in Klein Wetsinge. For Wetsinge, the name Eureka has no historical significance. To bring the mill back to its nearby surroundings, a new name "De Wetsinger" was chosen by the Winsum Mill Foundation.
