Westerbroek church
The church was built in 1889 as a successor to a 1721 church partly burnt out by lightning. But a church building had stood here from at least the early 1600s.
The pulpit dates from the 18th century. A number of pews also have panels from the same era, while others are about a century older. The listed one-manual organ was made by the Van Oeckelen brothers around 1900. The 1832 tower clock disappeared during World War II but has been hanging in the tower again since 1948 with the text:
When war suffering lay over 't land,
Fell d' old clock into enemy's hand,
Presently I call with a new sound,
God's people together for praise and thanks.
The church is open daily for a moment of silence, prayer or to light a candle from 9am to 7pm.
