Breedenborg

Near Warffum, the De Breedenborg, a block-shaped house surrounded by an old moat, was built in 1587.

Only a major renovation in 1850 gave the borg its current appearance. The garden of the borg was laid out in the nineteenth century with elements of the English landscape garden. Unfortunately, most of the borg burned down in 1982, but in 1992 the house was rebuilt in the old style. After rebuilding, the building became the property of the Koop Tjuchem company, which established a training and conference centre in it. The Breedenborg is not open to the public.
