What was that story about Bommen Berend again? Why are Groningen’s ‘courtyards’ so special? What are the finest examples of Art Nouveau in the city centre? At Paulien Excursions , you can choose from all sorts of themes, usually with the city’s development as the guiding thread. During cycle tours in the province, too, the focus is on the origins of the landscape and the region’s heritage. You’ll find all my themed walks on my website. Prefer something different? That’s possible! I also love discovering new things myself, which is why I create bespoke routes on request. For example, turn your family reunion into a journey of discovery with a route that takes you past old memories.

Exciting and full of surprises
Since 2002, I’ve had the pleasure of guiding around 35,000 people through Groningen. You won’t find any endless lists of dry facts with me. The true stories of Groningen are far too wonderful for that. During a walk through the city or a cycle ride through the province, I explain in a way that everyone can understand how Groningen came into being and why it looks the way it does today. You’ll always spot things you wouldn’t otherwise have noticed, even if you’ve lived in Groningen all your life. One of my personal favourites: a city walk combined with good food. With ‘Happen & Stappen’, we walk from one restaurant to the next in three stages. It’s great fun for a company party, for example, with a relaxed atmosphere.
