Kerk Wittewierum
The church of Wittewierum was built in the years 1863-1865. The style of the building is best described as eclectic.

A stone in the east facade shows that the current hall church was built to a design by architect P.B.Nienhuis. During the Second World War, a substantial roof ridge and two distinctive cast-iron pinnacles (ornamental turrets) were lost. The current roof and gable crowns are replicas installed during the church's restoration in 2002. Despite years of neglect, the characteristic nineteenth-century interior has been fully preserved. A printed, white-plastered vault covers the moody white interior with pews in wood imitation and a black pulpit.
