Sichtermanhuis
The Sichtermanhuis is richly decorated on the outside, but the interior was particularly impressive with walls full of paintings by Dutch and Italian masters, expensive tableware and various art treasures.

His intention was to have the most beautiful house in Groningen built. When it was completed in 1746, client and VOC director Jan Albert Sichterman felt that this had not quite succeeded, but imposing his house was (and still is) definitely. After his death in 1770, the building was split into two parts. The balcony that hung above the front door (and from which Sichterman apparently scattered coins to the people weekly) is in the Groninger Museum.
