Where the garden now stands, there used to be old barns that Arthur demolished, but almost every stone from them has been given a new purpose – in paving, planters, and also in dry stone walls that will once again form a habitat for insects, plants and mosses. The garden is also intended to be a flower-filled paradise for birds and butterflies.
As well as works of art such as those described in the right-hand column, there are also dragonflies, birds and butterflies, sometimes on a man-sized mobile. Abstract objects featuring shards of glass that catch the sunlight. Practical structures such as rose arches, tunnels, arbours and other supports for plants. There are also fire pits, wood baskets and garden tables.
This year, Arthur is focusing on floral figures with interesting leaf shapes, combined with shards of glass. We can also expect ‘garden paintings’: a frame containing a creation made of glass and metal. So plenty of new work!

Arthur Ros
Metaal Atelier Boombaard is an artist’s garden; the garden showcases the work of metalworker and artist Arthur Ros.
Particularly impressive are the enormous structures based on the Platonic solids, which the Greek philosopher Plato (472–347 BC) first described. The ‘geodesic structure’ uses planes to approximate a curved shape. The smaller the planes, the better the shape. This creates beautiful spheres – a work of art in themselves – but also, for example, a spherical canopy with space for seating underneath.
