De BOAZ-kerk Westeremden
Sober hall church of 1934 in a variant of the Amsterdam School.
Take a closer look
Bedum-based architect Albert Wiersema designed this austere hall church in 1934 in a variation of the Amsterdam School. The well-preserved interior also shows the Amsterdam School influence with consistently simple geometric decorations. In 2016, the original colours were brought back. On the outside: brownish red, green, ochre yellow and black. Inside the church: brownish red, turquoise, dark brown, soft yellow and black. Floor and stair runners have also returned to the interior.
