Reitdiepveer - Boarding point Winsum

The Reitdiep forms the separation between Middag-Humsterland and the Hogeland. The ferry service between Aduarderzijl and Schaphalsterzijl forms a nice connection between both historical landscapes.

The Reitdiep forms the natural separation between National Landscape Middag-Humsterland and the Hogeland. Several years ago, the idea arose to connect the two historical landscapes via a ferry service. In August 2014, that plan became a reality and you can get across by boat. You will then be treated to a fifteen-minute relaxing cruise on the 'Reitdiepveer' between the two moorings at the ancient locks of Aduarderzijl and Schaphalsterzijl. This new option opens up many new opportunities for cyclists, mobility scooters and walkers. Cycling and walking routes on the Hogeland and in Middag-Humsterland can now be combined in a pleasant way.

Opening hours

  • Daily from 10:00 - 17:00. In summer, sailings continue until 18:00.
