Pioenpark
In the east of the city of Groningen lies the Pioenpark. A small park between Oliemulderweg and Pioenstraat in the Oosterpark district.
The park dates from the 1950s and, like the Molukkenplantsoen, owes its existence to Berlage's pre-World War II expansion plan. The park has a colourful idyllic peony garden with benches under the rose arch and two large ponds. Ideal to lay down your picnic blanket, play a game of tennis (there is also a free-access court), play frisbee or sunbathe.
