Between Groningen and Eemshaven lies the old mound village of Westeremden. Here stands the reconstructed medieval vicarage farm ‘De Weem’, owned by Henk and Babs Helmantel. Museum Helmantel in Westeremden is Henk Helmantel’s exhibition space and is housed in the barn section of ‘De Weem’. During the summer months, it hosts changing exhibitions of still lifes and church interiors by Henk Helmantel, as well as exhibitions focusing on works by other artists.
Twice a month, a guided tour is organised of the exhibition and through the beautifully decorated front room, which is not normally accessible to visitors. For information on dates and to book (compulsory), click here.
