Between Groningen and Eemshaven lies the old mound village of Westeremden. Here stands the rebuilt medieval parsonage farm 'De Weem' of Henk and Babs Helmantel. Museum Helmantel in Westeremden is Henk Helmantel's exhibition space and is housed in the barn section of the Weem. During the summer months, it hosts changing exhibitions of still lifes and church interiors by Henk Helmantel as well as exhibitions focusing on works by other artists.
Twice a month, a guided tour is organised along the exhibition and through the beautifully decorated front house, which is normally not accessible to visitors. For information on dates and to sign up (compulsory), see www.helmantel.nl.
