De stille Kniptuun
The two-hectare garden borders the Westerwolde nature reserves ‘De Holle Beetse’ and ‘Vennekampen’. Next to the house lies the recently renovated pond, set amongst flowerbeds in a varied ornamental garden.

Here, close to home, the owners are in charge of what grows and flourishes. A little further on lies the large vegetable garden, where old-fashioned vegetables also grow. In two greenhouses, heat-loving crops such as tomatoes and cucumbers are grown. Passing through the standard-tree orchard, you reach the woodland garden with hostas and other shade-loving plants. The deeper you venture into the garden, the more nature takes over. In the wild garden, roe deer graze in the flower meadow amongst lupins and daisies, and seek out a place to sleep beneath the surrounding deciduous and coniferous trees. There is even a fox living in this part of the garden. At De Stille Kniptuun , gardening is done in harmony with nature.
