De stille Kniptuun

The two-hectare garden borders the Westerwold nature reserves 'De Holle Beetse' and the 'Vennekampen'. Near the house, the recently renovated pond lies amid borders in a varied ornamental garden.

Take a closer look

Here, close to home, the owners are in charge of what grows and flourishes. A little further on is the large kitchen garden in which old-fashioned vegetables also grow. In two greenhouses, heat-makers such as tomatoes and cucumbers grow. The standard orchard leads to the woodland garden with hostas and other shade plants. The deeper you go into the garden, the more influence nature gets. In the wild garden, deer graze in the flower meadow among lupines and daisies, and under the surrounding deciduous and coniferous trees they look for a place to sleep. A fox even dwells in this area. At De Stille Kniptuun, people are gardening with nature.
