In 2002, Hans Mes created this three-metre artwork; a book leaning against a pencil. The horizon drawings were made by schoolchildren and become visible through the stand of the book.

Location
This creates a 'Story of the distances'. The grey metallic shades on the inside of the book depict the clouds above the horizon and the mists below. By way of illustration, a recess has been made in the book. By looking through this, the horizon becomes visible. An 'illustration' that keeps changing slightly in the future.
