In 2002, Hans Mes created this three-metre-tall artwork: a book leaning against a pencil. The horizon drawings were created by schoolchildren and are revealed by the position of the book.

Location
This gives rise to a ‘Story of the Distant Horizons’. The grey metallic tones on the inside of the book depict the clouds above the horizon and the mists below. As an illustration, a cut-out has been created in the book. Looking through this reveals the horizon. An ‘illustration’ that will change slightly over time.
