Uitkijktoren Reiderwolde

The best way to get your bearings is from the approximately seven-metre-high watchtower in Reiderwolde, which towers high above the nature reserve of the same name. The climb is rewarded with sweeping views of the surrounding forests, fields, lakes and villages such as Winschoten, Blauwestad and Beerta.

The Oldambtmeer shines in the distance. Especially in the early morning or at dusk, the view is spectacular, when the light dips the landscape into enchanting colours. This area of about 200 hectares contains various forests, grasslands, marshes, pools and hills. Along several cycling and hiking trails are fruit trees, from which you can pick apples, pears and plums.

On one of the hills, in the southern part of the nature reserve, there is a stone-red watchtower, 7.20 metres high. From here you have an excellent view of the whole area. Among others, you can see Blauwestad, Winschoten, Finsterwolde and Beerta.
