The museum's objective can be broken down into five parts:
Establishing and maintaining a museum.
Gathering, expanding and professionally preserving and conserving museum objects.
Collecting and recording descriptive and oral information and visual material (films, videos, etc.).
Developing and participating in initiatives directly related to the cultural-historical values of Termunterzijl, the region and fisheries.
Making the collection and information resources (library) accessible to a wide audience.
Informative and educational meetings for various target groups.
