Vervlogen tijden

On the wall of a corner building, next to the police station, there is a metre-high graffiti artwork of a pigeon just spreading its wings, ready to fly. The city pigeon is pulling a farmer and his milk cart along.

Pixels have been incorporated into the artwork. Lageweg frequently includes them in his paintings and refers to them as ‘realpixelism’. According to Lageweg, pixels add a modern touch and are in keeping with the times. Artist Klaas Lageweg created this mural in consultation with the building owner, the tenant and the municipality of Groningen. Entitled Vervlogen Tijden Gone Vervlogen Tijden, the mural depicts farmer Roelf Bierling, the last resident of the farm at Rademarkt 27, where a multi-storey car park now stands.
