In 1915, Popko Westerhuis built Villa Kona at Raadhuisstraat 7, named after himself and his wife Naatje. This transition between art nouveau and chalet style was Usquert's first house with central heating.

In 1915, Popko Westerhuis had a retirement villa built at 7 Raadhuisstraat. He named Villa Kona after himself (Ko) and his wife Naatje. At that time, the chalet style was in vogue; with his architect, he chose a transitional form between art nouveau and chalet style. The result is impressive. It is said that Villa Kona was the first building in Usquert with central heating.
