Church Schildwolde
A tufa church was built on this site in the 13th century. After the Reformation, the present church was built on the foundations. It is a simple hall church, built of brick. Plaster was applied over the bricks. The church was consecrated in 1686.
The pulpit made in 1666 and originating from the tufa church has been preserved and can be admired in the current church. The organ dates from 1868 and was made by Roelf Meijer, who was born in Veendam. This organ builder mainly made instruments suitable for music from the Baroque and Classicist periods.
