Paterswoldsemeer
On the southern shore of the Paterswoldsemeer lies the Lijte leisure area, better known to the people of Groningen as the surfing beach at Haren.
The beach is situated on the road between Haren and Eelde. Here, you can enjoy sunbathing on the sunbathing lawn, swimming from the small sandy beach or using the special swimming jetty. But there’s plenty more to do at Paterswoldse Meer. The area is very popular with walkers and cyclists, as the many paths allow you to head in any direction and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings on and around the lake. You’ll also find a variety of places to eat and stay. You can go sailing (there’s a marina), hire a boat, and you’ll also find plenty of spots to cast your line.
