Welcome to the Vismarkt, where market stalls are set up 3 times a week in the early morning. The square under the smoke of de Akerk thus becomes a treasure chest of colours, smells and tastes. But with all those impressions, such a visit to the market can be quite overwhelming. Therefore, here are a few favourites of ours, at the Vismarkt.

The Eemstuin | Vegetables from around the corner

Every Friday - In the northern Groningen town of Uithuizermeeden, close to the Wadden Sea, lies the Eemstuin. A place where gardening is done the biodynamic way. What does that mean? That no poison or artificial fertilisers are used. That way it has as little impact as possible on the soil, plants, livestock and the people around us. Every Friday, the fresh harvest is displayed on the Vismarkt, so that everyone in Groningen can enjoy this true Groningen gold.

Der Nudelladen | Chock-fresh Italian

Tuesday, Friday & Saturday - Although this stall bears a German name, you won't find German products here but Italian ones. Because they certainly know Italian food at Der Nudelladen. Brand-fresh pasta, ravioli with the most delicious fillings and surprising pestos make this stall a real treat for any foodie. Almost all products are handmade, just across the border in Oldenburg, and most ingredients are local and sustainable. Buon appetito!

The smell of toasted nuts; delicious and not to be missed when doing a round of the market. Deliciously natural and naturally delicious is what Bionoot stands for. At this stall, they sell freshly roasted organic nuts to which no oil has been added. In addition, the nuts are roasted in a hot-air oven, which ensures a delicious flavour. But that's not the only reason they are known, their syrup waffles and other cakes are just great.
