Fun terraces in the province

The outdoor terraces are open to visitors again. And that’s good news. As soon as the first rays of sunshine appear, ‘heading out for a drink on a terrace’ is perhaps the number one favourite pastime for many Dutch people. Groningen is brimming with cosy terraces. Not only in the city, but also across the province, it’s lovely to relax on a terrace when the weather’s fine. Head out into the countryside to unwind. To inspire you, we’ve put together a list of a few lovely terraces.

Eisseshof | Niehove

From a campsite and restaurant to a marina, Marenland in Winsum has it all under one roof. You can also hire a canoe or small boat. After a lovely afternoon on the water, take a seat on the spacious terrace or in the restaurant. Time for a delicious meal at De Jongens uit de Buurt. If you’re looking to enjoy a bite to eat and a drink in beautiful waterside surroundings, Garnwerd aan Zee is the place for you. The terrace is set in a picturesque landscape and is ideal for a relaxing afternoon or evening in the sun. What’s more, it has its own harbour with permanent moorings and berths for visiting boats.

‘Bij de Molen’ is situated right next to the beautifully restored ‘Olle Widde’ windmill on Eestumerweg in Ten Post.
