Bicycle network

Getting on your bike and having the freedom to figure out where to go by yourself. With the help of the Routebureau Groningen's cycle network, it's just that little bit easier. Decide which way to go. There are hundreds of kilometres of cycle paths in the province, you have plenty of choice.

From node to node

The cycling network is a big chain of nodes. Using these nodes, you can plan your ideal cycling route. It is useful to check in advance which junctions you want to cycle along and make a note of them somewhere. Once on the road, follow the green and white signposting between the nodes. At each node, there is a sign with a map, so you can easily shorten or lengthen your route. The Routebureau Groningen website has a handy map with all junctions and routes.

By across the border

There is more than enough to discover in Groningen, of course, but with the nodes, you also end up at the eastern neighbours in no time. The Groningen network is connected to that of the North German regions of Emsland and Ostfriesland. In eight different places, you can easily cross the border and enter Germany without realising it. You can find a map of the Dutch and German junctions on Fietsknoop.
