Kunstruimte De Smederij

The Smederij at Vosholen 56 in Sappemeer is a unique, multifunctional space, where creativity and inspiration are the guiding principles. The building was built on the site of a former smithy and still retains its important features.

Have a look now

like a dozen cast-iron windows and an element that used to serve as a blacksmith's fire. The building breathes the atmosphere of industriousness and has a characteristic, industrial look. A unique location and ideal meeting place for makers and lovers of art.
In April 2024, the Stichting Kunstruimte De Smederij was established. The foundation wants to use the ground floor of the building and make it available for exhibitions, meetings, small-scale performances, lectures, training sessions, book presentations and other gatherings in the field of art and culture. And the upper floor of the building can be used for creative activities, such as workshops and courses.
In short, you can experience art, be creative, experience culture, organise your own activities or find inspiration in peace and quiet.
