Location
The name "Spavento" comes from Italian and means "terror", a playful reference to the artist's surname.
Inside the gallery, visitors get a good idea of Rolien Schrik's versatile work. There are more than 70 paintings, ranging from realistic flowers and animals to portraits and landscapes. Occasionally, works with a modern or pop-cultural angle pop up, such as paintings inspired by the Peaky Blinders series. Her style is characterised by the use of acrylic paint and mixed media, with which she creates detailed and lively compositions. She also likes to work on commission and can, for instance, create personal paintings based on supplied photos.

Gallery Spavento is open on Thursday and Sunday afternoons from 13:30 to 16:30. Outside these times, it is also possible to schedule a visit by appointment. Admission is free, making it low-threshold to drop in and get to know the art and the artist herself.
As the gallery only opened its doors in 2025, it is still a relatively new place. This is precisely why the visit feels intimate and personal, unlike larger museums. Rolien regularly hosts a small workshop for up to 4 people. In the workshop, you can be introduced to painting yourself. If you are already familiar with painting or if you want to deepen your knowledge of another technique, or if you have questions, a workshop can also help you take the next step. Rolien enjoys working on commission and would like to expand her possibilities to do so, so that Gallery Spavento can develop even further in the future as a creative meeting place.
