Kleine Waterpoort
Besides the Grote Waterpoort, Delfzijl also has a Kleine Waterpoort. It is also called De Ruyterpoort, because in 1665 the West India Company's fleet landed in Delfzijl thanks to Michiel de Ruyter.

Local artists’ associations painted the scene on the walls of the gate. The Kleine waterpoort , like the Grote Waterpoort, was built to protect the residents of Delfzijl from high water. Should the water threaten to rise, the revolving door can be closed manually.
