Location
This mill was close to being demolished in 1954. The Groningen entrepreneur Offringa, who bought up peel mills to reduce competition and then demolished them, had also become the owner of De Hoop. The interior was already gone, but just in time the demolition could be stopped. For a long time, the mill was in a sorry state. The mill was bought by the municipality of Middelstum and in 1976 the exterior, the standing work, was restored. After the mill was handed over to Molenstichting Fivelingo, in 2012 the work in progress was also tackled and it was once again a grinding corn mill. The peeling stones, which were the reason for the demolition, are still in the mill.
On 1 January 2016, the mill was transferred to Het Groninger Landschap.
Every Saturday afternoon, the mill is open from 13.00-17.00 and when the flag is out and/or the mill is running....
