This guest house was founded by Ludewé Vink, in memory of her three late husbands and two children. The guest house takes its name from Ludewé’s children: her son was called Pieter and her daughter Pieternella. In 1871, Ludewé purchased the property on Grote Leliestraat, and the guest house was established there in 1877. The guest house had strict conditions for new residents. For instance, they had to lead an ‘exemplary life’. This meant that they were not allowed to cause a nuisance or consume alcohol. And because Ludewé’s last husband worked on a boat, skippers were given priority for accommodation.
