With a keen eye for developments, yet wary of trends and hype, we focus on photography and all other forms of visual media. Every year, we organise an international photography festival, curate exhibitions in our own studio and at other venues, commission photographic projects and organise debates, lectures and masterclasses. Noorderlicht runs an educational programme and also publishes special catalogues and photobooks. Our exhibitions have been shown worldwide, including in the United States, Syria, Australia and Indonesia. Through its distinctive, incisive programming and exceptional publications, Noorderlicht has built an international reputation as an institution that successfully combines social engagement with visual beauty.
