Wierdedorp Eenum
The mound of Eenum was already inhabited in 500 BC. Because this mound has been excavated, only the house mound remains. The Romanesque church in Eenum dates from the 12th century.
The remarkable Arp Schnitger organ in the church is from 1703. Schnitger gave Groningen the fame of being the richest organ country in Europe. Almost all of Schnitger's extant organs are in northern Germany and the northern Netherlands, most of them in Groningen. Just outside the village is one of Groningen's highest mounds, the Eenumerhoogte (formerly also called Oostrum). For a long time, a farmhouse stood on this mound, but it was demolished at the end of the 20th century due to dilapidation and replaced by a modern house.
