Because the sea dyke curves slightly at this point, it is hardly noticeable, but this is the northernmost point of the Groningen mainland. To clearly mark this point, artist René de Boer was commissioned to design a work of art for this location. De Boer created his 2.5-metre-high hemelpoort out of steel. It can only be reached by bike or on foot.
