Monument Ede Staal
Ede Staal (1941-1986) is without doubt the best-known singer from Groningen. ls ode to the singer, a statue was unveiled on the dike in 2001. The ten-metre-high conical column was made by Groningen artist Chris Verbeek.

Ede Staal (1941-1986) is undoubtedly the best-known singer from Groningen. Staal has lived in many places in the province. This can be seen in his varied Groningen language. He died in Delfzijl. As an ode to the singer, a statue was unveiled on the dike in 2001. A stainless steel band was wrapped around the column with the lyrics of 'Credo- Mien bestoan', one of Staal's best-known songs.
