Hornhuizen is a village in the province of Groningen and originated in the 10th century on a riverbank. It has about 200 inhabitants, and in the middle of the village is a 19th-century church. It replaces the church that went up in flames in 1247. At the time, the brightly coloured tower served as a beacon for shipping on the Wadden Sea. Tammingaborg once stood near the village. It was built in the 14th century and was inhabited by noble families. The tiny house overlooks the land where the borg stood, which was unfortunately demolished in the 19th century.
