Martinikerk Groningen
The Martinikerk is the oldest church in the city of Groningen. Its many beautiful murals and vault paintings, together with the magnificent Schnitger organ, make this monumental building the city’s most important piece of historical and cultural heritage.

Welcome to the Martini Church, the heart of the city of Groningen for centuries. During your visit, we will take you through centuries of history, religion and art. You will explore many parts of the church; from the centuries-old wall paintings and the famous Martini organ to the colourful stained-glass windows. All the stories behind these objects and parts together make the Martini Church what it is today: a house of meeting for every Groninger and everyone who feels connected to this church.
A notable feature of the heritage within the Martinikerk is the series *The 8 Works of Mercy* painted by Egbert Modderman. These monumental paintings can be admired in the choir aisle and in the nave of the church.
