Kerk Midwolde
The oldest parts of this church, the nave and the lower part of the tower, date back to the 12th century. By design, this is one of the oldest brick churches in the province.

The Romanesque character is still evident in the three semicircular windows on the north side, although the stained glass is not original. The tower was added around 1400. On the inside of the church, the marble tomb is particularly striking. This was designed by Rombout Verhulst for Carel Hieronymus van Inn- Und Knyphausen and his wife Anna van Ewsum (1665-1669). Most of the rest of the furnishings also come from the 17th century and show the influence of the inhabitants of borg Nienoord. Notable are the raised gentlemen's benches, after the East Frisian example.
