Waddenvarkens

Waddenvarkens is a small-scale pig farm close to the Wadden Sea on almost the northernmost tip of the Netherlands. Here, colourful bentheimer and duroc pigs are kept in an animal-friendly and sustainable way.

The bentheimer can be recognised by its large variegated spots and typical lobores. The duroc pig by its firm build and golden yellow to cherry red colour.

The pigs' diet consists mainly of cereals, rapeseed, vegetables, fruits and hay. No soya or other manipulated feeds. The pigs are out in the country all year round, where they can root and lie in the mud, so they can still be real pigs here. Waddenvarkens has its own farm shop at home. In 2020, Waddenvarkens will open its own butchery in the village of Uithuizermeeden.
