On the outskirts of Haren, bordering a beautiful nature reserve, lies the ecological Zorgboerderij De Mikkelhorst. As an ecological care farm, De Mikkelhorst strives for harmony with nature and the environment. The farm shop sells products from its own garden and region, produces energy by means of solar panels on the roof and employs people with a disability or specific needs in a safe workplace.
There is plenty to do for young and old at the petting zoo. You can cuddle furry and feathered farm animals, have fun in the large playground and there is a climbing trail around the farm. This allows you to learn all about the animals on and around De Mikkelhorst while climbing. There is also a market garden, tea room, wood splitting shop and a shop full of local produce.
