B&B Oldenbosch & motorhome sites

This farm is first mentioned in the 14th century, but its history probably goes back even further. Indeed, the type of construction dates back to the earliest farm building in the northern Netherlands.

A gem of a monument.

Steffen & Nicole with their daughters Sterre and Fayah moved into this beautiful spot in 2023. Since then, their family has expanded with a bee hive - honey from the house is in the planning! - and two alpacas. These are allowed out for walks with guests when they are big enough.

But what it's all about at Oldenbosch are the three beautiful B&B rooms. Two in the front house and one upstairs, accessible via the barn. The rooms are spacious, spacious and tasteful and the atmosphere is intimate. The ensuite bathrooms are all equipped with washbasin, toilet and shower (and bath only in the rooms in the front house).

Breakfast is served in the room, in the antique dining room or, weather permitting, outside on the terrace surrounded by the vast landscape, peace and quiet.

Nansum (Holwierde), Groningen

Maren (ancient mudflats and creeks), mounds and an open landscape, interspersed with villages with often 11th-century churches and famous organs, characterise the surrounding landscape. The area offers endless cycling and walking opportunities. Canoeing and mudflat hiking are also possible. Schiermonnikoog and Groningen are easily accessible.

History

This farm is first mentioned in the 14th century, but its history probably goes back even further. In fact, the type of construction dates back to the earliest farm buildings in the northern Netherlands. The front house features a truss construction that is rare for northern Groningen: the anchor beam truss. This, and Oldenbosch's location on a house meadow, make the monument absolutely unique. The renovation required after twenty years of vacancy was radical and very lengthy, but the result is worth it.

In addition to the B&B rooms, Oldenbosch also has camper van spaces, ideal for travellers touring Groningen with their camper vans. A rest area has been set up for passers-by.
And on site, E-Choppers and electric bicycles can be rented to explore the area in a relaxed and sustainable way.
