We are Jenneke and Cornelis and run the GArSTVRIJ guesthouse (B&B) and a rest stop for organisations that organise cycling, walking or Nordic walking tours. We ourselves come from the Randstad and are enthusiastic about the peace and quiet and space that the province of Groningen and in particular the Oldambt have to offer. We like to do our best to let everyone enjoy the peace and quiet and space that can still be found here and would therefore like to welcome you.
In our Guesthouse we offer: comfortable made-up single beds a towel set. The pantry is equipped with a microwave oven, a fridge and facilities for preparing a cup of coffee (nespresso) and/or tea. Besides a toilet and a separate shower, there is also a sheltered terrace with garden chairs and a parasol. We provide a full breakfast (no vegan or gluten-free). Should there be any other specific wishes, please let us know.
Bicycles can be stored in a (locked) bicycle shed where a charging point for E-bikes is available. Should you wish to use a rental bike during your stay, we can contact the bike rental company for you (early booking is required). You can park your car free of charge on our premises.
What we can offer you falls within our motto "Nature is the Luxury here".
General: Besides a beautiful walking area, several places of interest can be reached within a short distance, including the museum Slag bij Heiligerlee, the Bell Foundry Museum and the statue of Count Adolf in Heiligerlee. The recreational area the Blauwestad (with 2 beaches), the 14th century borg on the Ennemaborgh estate in Midwolda, the thermal bath with healing water in Bad Nieuweschans, the fortress town of Bourtange etc, etc.
Furthermore, there are several catering establishments in the immediate vicinity and a trip to Groningen city is also more than worth a visit.
Opening hours
- From 1 April to 1 November, we make our Guesthouse available to holidaymakers.
Between 1 November and 1 April, the Guesthouse is closed as all sanitary facilities are closed due to the danger of freezing.

- Adults € 76.50 If the Guesthouse is used by one person, we charge € 60.50 per night. These amounts include breakfast and exclude tourist tax.

By train: get off at Scheemda station (alternative station Winschoten). Continue by Qbuzz bus towards Westerlee, Lagelaan/Hoofdweg stop.
By car: From A7, take exit 46 towards Heiligerlee, cross the bridge (Winschoterdiep) and continue towards Heiligerlee. At the T-junction, turn right towards Westerlee. On Hoofdweg, take the 2nd exit on the right.
From N33, exit Meeden, Winschoten towards Westerlee. On Hoofdweg, turn left onto Lage laan, 1st right.
By bicycle, or similar: From the direction of Veendam via Meeden or from Winschoten via Heiligerlee.
Our B&B is on the NAP route (cycle route from Bad Nieuweschans to Breda) and the cycle junction route (between junctions 91 and 93). - Explanatory parking: On 1st Garstelaan, you will see a thatched yellow house. You can park there on the driveway (left). Bicycles etc can be stored in the shed.
