Kabelbaan Ter Apel
Ter Apel is home to the Netherlands’ first hand-operated cable car. Ol Graitje connects the banks of the Ruiten Aa just outside the village.
The cable car is 22.4 metres long and forms a key link in various long-distance walking trails that criss-cross the area; it is also intended to boost tourism.
Rotating wheel
Walkers can sit in a gondola and steer it to the other side using a hand-crank. It can accommodate up to two people. The gondola can also be propelled using hand-cranks on both banks.
