Kabelbaan Ter Apel
Ter Apel has the Netherlands' first hand-powered cable car. Ol Graitje connects the banks of the Ruiten Aa just outside the village.
The cable car is 22.4 metres long and forms an important link in several long-distance hiking trails that traverse the area and it is also meant to be a boost for tourism.
Spinning wheel
Walkers can sit in a gondola and steer it to the other side using a turning wheel. There is room for up to two people. The gondola can also be propelled across both banks using swivel wheels.
