Where can you go mudflat walking?

You can book various mudflat walking tours with us. Wadlopen Pieterburen is based in Pieterburen, just behind the dyke on the Wadden Sea. From here, you can head out onto the mudflats. In the Netherlands, you can go mudflat walking between the mainland and Ameland and Schiermonnikoog, amongst other places.

How much does wadlopen Pieterburen cost?

There are various mudflat walking tours and packages available at a range of prices. Our most popular mudflat walking tour, the Pieterburen walk, is a 6km trail. This is the easiest tour, costing 17.50 euros. We also offer longer mudflat walking tours to the Wadden Islands, priced at 37.50 and 45 euros.

Can you walk across the mudflats to Schiermonnikoog?

Yes, indeed, the mudflat walk to Schiermonnikoog starts from Lauwersoog. After a short boat trip across the Wadden Sea, the mudflat walk begins on the Brakzand sandbank. How can we go mudflat walking in Pieterburen?

Due to the moon’s gravitational pull on the Earth, there are two tides a day. At high tide, the water is high, and at low tide, the water recedes, leaving some areas dry or at low water. This means we can walk across the Wadden Sea at low tide. The time when mudflat walking is possible varies from day to day, depending on the low-water levels. Sometimes it’s at 6 am, and a week later low tide might be at 4 pm.
